We are pleased to present, for Basel Social Club, a new in-situ work by Brazilian artist Iah Bahia (*1993, lives in Rio de Janeiro).

Iah Bahia works with found materials, fabrics, paper, soil, sand, water, waste, and other transitory elements that she brings together into a poetic ecosystem. Each of her work is an experimentation-based process. She usually starts with forms at the scale of her hands and makes it grow spontaneously in unique shape each time.

For Strength, 2024, Iah Bahia works directly in-situ with straw, soil and water got from the local farmers on the Basel Social Club exhibition site. As it takes shape, the volume of Strength echoes and reflect her body as much as it creates a new skin and a new organic entity.
