Lovay Fine Arts is pleased to present Michèle Graf and Selina Grüter’s Kartonagen, a new group of reliefs that is shown in our gallery space in Geneva (opened June 5) and at Liste Art Fair Basel (booth 78).

As Graf and Grüter dismantled clocks for their kinetic Clock Work sculptures, a peculiarly shaped wooden bracket presented itself and became the basis for the new Kartonagen reliefs. They repeatedly hand-replicated this bracket in cardboard, coated each copy in layers of oil pastel, and assembled them in groups of 12. These cardboard replicas, sitting under oil, pigment, and fixative, become a strange record of time, built from Clock Work’s leftovers.
