Lovay Fine Arts is delighted to invite you to the opening of our group exhibition Never-Nevermore.
Copying, collecting, repeating, doubling, and appropriating signs or found elements have been essential to artistic practices, and expressed in a variety of ways. Never-Nevermore in turn takes its title from The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, in which the bird repeats the word “nevermore” to the point it becomes a continual chant. The exhibition therefore explores two copying threads: The first is grounded in conceptual politics on appropriation of existing images. The second reflects on the obsessive repetition of images and signs within the composition itself. On occasion, these two circular gestures are combined.
